Private Mediation (AKL Mediation Limited)
Why Would I Want to Mediate Privately?
We all know that the service provided by the government Mediation Service is free. There are downsides however. While the policy of the Mediation Service is to provide urgent mediations within 10 days they may not always meet that goal, or their idea of the issues constituting an urgent mediation may not correspond with yours. You might also find it frustrating that a mediation that has been scheduled is “bumped” so that they can provide urgent mediations within the time frame that they seek to achieve.
A private mediation ensures that you will ensure that you will have a mediation where and when you want it with the mediator of your choice.
As an employer:
Where an employee has been suspended it may be useful to resolve this quickly to minimise on-going costs; and where you have dismissed an employee it is often best to try to resolve any claim quickly to avoid increased claims for lost wages.

- Relationship problems
- Harassment or bullying
- Collective bargaining
- Complex mediation issues such as shareholdings/directorship overlaying the employment issue
- Recovery of wages/holiday pay
